I am currently living and painting in Madrid. I have an academic background in ceramic sculpture and costume design and my professional career was with the Walt Disney Company. I am currently working on a collection of paintings inspired by the adventures and the daily routines of life. I am painting with both acrylics and oils at the moment and experimenting a bit. These paintings are done on either wood panels, board or canvas. I sketch the scene, then, focusing mostly on the large shapes I experiment with the colors. I am using a lot of bright, strong colors right now. I feel the colors defy negativity. These paintings are mostly portrayals of ordinary places, objects, animals, skylines and backstreets. Of course, when I saw them they didn’t look so ordinary. Truthfully, it's a feeling that I want to recreate because what I saw looked like a story to me and I wanted to capture it and share what I felt. All materials used in the painting , printing and framing of this artwork was purchased and sourced in Madrid. A portion of sales of these paintings are donated to local foundations.

Artistic Journey

I was very fortunate to have been encouraged to be an artist and to value that I can contribute to others in this way. I did pursue art as a profession and do have a Bachelors degree in Fine Art and an Masters in Costume Design. The training led to my career as a corporate artist and designer in the largest creative entertainment company in the world. Surrounded by creative, talented and hardworking people, the work was a dream come true but also very different from what I want to do artistically today. The skills most valued in my career were probably speed of creative thinking and presentation,deadlines, proper prioritization a positive attitude and a thick skin. Along the way I have always painted, sculpted, stitched, sketched and collaged. I have exhibited and sold some of my own work in galleries and done private commissions for friends and for interior designers. These current paintings are inspired by the sights and sounds of the community of Madrid, adventures my family and I have had and pieces from my everyday life. The beautiful wooden floating frames are custom made for each painting by my husband, Chris.
